Clean room and good location close to main Thamel streets. Large social area but very quiet as not many staying. WiFi good. Shower good. Nice garden setting to chill and read. Had a power cut first night (common across Kathmandu) and the staff were very kind and provided us with candles. Would stay again.
“A very comfortable experience at a hotel trying very hard, offering tranquility in the midst of a bustling metropolis”

Conveniently located, with a generous breakfast, the main desk manager communicates effortlessly with all guests. Their responsiveness to feedback is indicated in rearranging my room from my last visit, to provide more natural light. While being on the edge of all the action, the garden atmosphere is private and secluded, providing a wonderful chance to catch some sun on a warm winter’s afternoon.

This was our second stay at the Garden House. We like the location, close to Thamel, yet far from the noise. The room was a bit dated, but no complains as it is great deal for the price. The hearty breakfast was included in the price. Perfect for few nights.
“Friendly and Peaceful”

Kathmandu Garden House is surprisingly peaceful for such a central location. The rooms are basic but large and clean, with great attached bathrooms. It has a wonderful garden and good food. The staff are friendly and they securely stored my bags while while I was trekking, and the driver they work with is safe and prompt.

We have stayed over there for two nights, before going to Pokhara and After Coming Back from Pokhara .. We used this place to take rest. The rooms are clean and spacious, the mini garden is beautiful and the food is delicious!! Walking distance to Thamel but still this place is very peaceful. What I like most is the garden and the staffs warm and friendly behave.
“A slice of calm in the heart of the city”

I have been doing business for many years in Kathmandu and always return here. A great budget option located minutes from the hustle and bustle but with a lovely quiet garden area to recharge the batteries. Not expensive and very helpful owners/staff. Yves, Sangita, Kumar will make sure you are well looked after. I always feel at home here.
“Hard to fault for a few nights in Kathmandu”

Great location, near to Thamel but off down a relatively quiet side road. We stayed in the new building (they have two) and had a great view from our balcony. Saw mountains one morning, which I gather is unusual these days from Kathmandu. Had breakfast each morning in the garden of the older building just down the road. Wifi, hot water, friendly and helpful staff, and car parking for our hire bike. Hope to be in Kathmandu again and will definitely stay here.
“Peaceful option, walking distance to Thamel but still quiet”

I’ve stayed here multiple times. Paknajol is a good option if you want to be close to central area/Thamel but away from the madness! Garden House have a nice garden and rooftop for some quiet downtime and it’s away from the street noise and chaos of Thamel.
The staff are great – relaxed, friendly and helpful with booking flights, changing money, getting around etc. They are very honest and straight – for example they were very up front and will tell you it’s cheaper for you to get your laundry done elsewhere!
The rooms are clean and cheap and the overall room standard is just OK. i.e expect clean rooms and bathrooms but it could probably use a new paint job kind of thing! Actually over the time I have stayed there (I come to Kathmandu twice a year for 2-3 years) it has got cleaner I think. They won’t clean your room every day unless you ask.
The curd, muesli, fruit breakfast is good! But food wise I’d tend to eat out for lunch dinner unless I was very comfortable reading in the garden. You’ll probably find cheaper “local” restaurants but generally food prices are ok and cheaper than tourist orientated restaurants though with less selection.
So in summary if you are on a budget and looking for something near Thamel that is well priced, this is a good pick.
